Me

My photo
Boston, Massachussetts, United States
I'm not limited to the blank canvas I was born as. My life is an eclectic melange of vivid colour. I float in a sea of multifarious musings, ranging from worlds of lime green skies and copper stars to winged objects and fairy dust. I am the flirtatiousness of cherry chap-stick, the depths of the cerulean ocean and the violet skies of Monet. I am the brooding dark green of dense foliage, the crimson tint in a blushing girl’s cheeks; the purple of bruised limbs. The complexity of my thoughts keeps evolving, I grow and shrink alternately. I cannot be contained or restrained. The French language is my drug and acne is my worst enemy. I laugh a little too much and am a romantic in the extreme sense. I’m likely to steal the stars from the sky, but my aims remain grounded in reality. I can’t be pigeonholed into a single stereotype, because all labels apply to me at different points in time.

The Verdict

You're probably wondering why I haven't blogged about the IB exams yet, considering that my whole life basically revolves around them. Well, there are a couple of reasons for it:

1. Been too busy with them
2. Too lazy to blog
3. Too busy watching How I Met Your Mother

Here goes, then:

4th May

English Higher Level Paper 1: Unseen.

I'm always really scared for this paper, because I sincerely doubt my writing skills. I mean, I may have lucked out with getting published by Revenge Ink and working for YPulse, but that is only because of the way I market myself rather than my actual writing skill, which is, quite frankly, nil. So it was a pleasant surprise when Imtiaz Dharker's Minority showed up, with all its references to neem and ghee and India. What was even better was that the poem was all about cultural diaspora.

Guess what my Extended Essay was about?

Yeah, that's right - CULTURAL DIASPORA!!!!

Straight 7.

Business & Management Higher Level Paper 1:

OK we all know (thanks to my N Pharma Nerd Chronicles post) exactly how hard I worked for this one. It was pretty good, but I don't get that 7 feeling. *shrug*

5th May

Business & Management Higher Level Paper 2:

I walked out of the exam feeling awesome, but along came AB, telling me I messed up the cash flow forecast. The other questions were pretty good though, so I'm being optimistic about this one.

Definite 7.

Maths Studies Standard Level Paper 1:

OK. Now who studies for this? That's right, NOBODY, which is why I didn't either. Again, it was really really good except for this last question about derivatives. Well, I've always been bad at calculus, and I'm only losing 6 marks here.

7 :)

6th May

Maths Studies Standard Level Paper 2:

It was crap. Let's not talk about it.

Psychology Higher Level Paper 1:

BRILLIANT. BRILL-FUCKING-LIANT. Of course there was a bit of a dilemma with the essay question, which I misread as two or more theories rather than two or more applications. OH WELL. I stuck with classical conditioning and totally MCEG'd it. BRILLIANT. BEST PSYCH PAPER 1 EVER.

7 !

7th May

Psychology Higher Level Paper 2

Dysfunctional psychology was superb. I could have done it blindfolded, with my hands tied behind my back. However, psychodynamic was a little iffy. I mean..applications of one Freudian theory? I did the tripartite model and discussed ego psychology, regression therapy and the ego defense explanation of schizophrenia. I also put in Neo-Freudians in my conclusion. Hope it works out :/

High 6?

Psychology Higher Level Paper 3

If you looked at my head during the paper, you would notice something. Yeah. You would notice a big, fat white bubble floating above it. And the white bubble would have the letters WTF? in bold red type in them. Honestly, what the HELL was that? OK, I sailed through interview ethics alright. I also managed to pull through with the second question about researcher and participant biases in psychological research - easy peasy. BUT WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT LAST ONE ABOUT PARTICIPANT OBSERVATION AND RECORDING?! I just took the straightforward audiovisual route and discussed ethical considerations. And very VERY briefly mentioned event/point sampling. So...don't know about that. Although BC did send us an e-mail telling us that she spoke to some examiners about it and how we ought to have been tested on qualitative methods and research methodologies. Oh well.

10th May

English Higher Level Paper 2

WORST PAPER BY FAR. REALLY, REALLY SUCKED. I picked this thing about universal messages despite varying contexts, and chose Like Water for Chocolate and the Stone Diaries. The themes I picked were the most obscure fucking ideas on the planet. The inadequacy of language (brief reference to Haroun), social stereotyping and gender typing. LIKE WTF? WHY COULDN'T I HAVE JUST COVERED LOVE/LUST INSTEAD? OR BETTER, CHOSEN SOME OTHER QUESTION!? BLAH.

FAILED.
 17th May

Environmental Systems and Societies Paper 1

I had gone on this family trip from the 13th to the 16th, and when I got back, there was Boyfriend's farewell party to go to, so I didn't study at all up until Sunday night. It wasn't at all bad, though, surprisingly.

I guess I could get a 7, but on the safe side, we'll assume a 6.

18th May

Environmental Systems and Societies Paper 2

Borneo thing was OK again. And essays were not exceptional.

High 6/ possible 7,

24th May

French B Paper 1

OK this paper is going down in history as one of the BEST PAPERS OF MY LIFE.

7.

French B Paper 2

French!!! Enough said. AMAZING.

7.

YESSSSSSSSSSS. I'M FREEEEEEEEEEE. FREEDOM IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. IT GIVES ME MENTAL ORGASMS.

Alright, alright...
Sorry.

Here's the final verdict (in my opinion), then:

English: 6
B&M: 6
Psychology: 7
ESS: 6
Math: 6
French B: 7

2 points for EE/TOK essay.

40 overall. Not that bad. Let's see what really happens. :)

Goodnight world!
